Dr. Gambee Recipe and Classes

Class – There will be another class on heart disease October 25th.
Usually we have just two classes a month, but with my trip to Utah we
are off schedule and I announced in the September Alternatives that
there would be a class the 25th I will do that.
Fermented cabbage -- sauerkraut -- offers an amazing spectrum of health
Benefits. But don't use just cabbage, add peppers, onions, carrots,
cauliflower, etc.
 
Sauerkraut combines the health benefits offered by all cruciferous
vegetables (a category which includes cauliflowers and brussel sprouts
as well as cabbage) with the probiotic advantages derived from the
fermentation process.
In addition:
• It is high in vitamins A & C.
• It is high in phytonutrients & anti-oxidants
• Very long history of of beneficial use
• Great home remedy for most stomach/intestinal aliments
• The probiotics to maintain colon health.
• Easy to make requiring no fossil fuels.
• Stores easily with a long shelf life.
 
Basic Recipe
• Glass jars – 1 or 2 quart, pint, doesn't really matter
• Veggies – cabbage, peppers, carrots, cauliflower, cucumbers, (no
zuchinni, tomatoes) The foundation of min is cabbage.
• Sea Salt , whey (helps but not necessary) The watery stuff that
accumulates in a container of plain yogart.
• Fill jar half full of water plus 1T of salt/pint of water, & if you
have it 1T whey.
• Chop veggies in to small slices, maybe grate the cabbage. I like to
pound the cabbage, but that is probably not necessary.
• Stuff veggies into jars and pack down firmly so that they are covered
with the brine. This is the key, that the brine covers the produce.
Add more brine if necessary.
• I use wide-mouthed jars and then put a regular sized lid on the
veggies to keep them under
• Cover the jar with a lid or some other cover and set aside, not air
tight.
• Check the jars in a few day to make sure the produce is covered with
brine. It will be “done in a couple of weeks, but it is fun to taste
it every week or so.
• I put regular lid on the stuff after a few weeks for better storage.
• Last night 10/19/11 my family of five (children ages 7, 13, 15) ate a
quart easily and would have had more but I cut them off.
• If mold develops on the top, just pull it off and add more brine.

Joint Pain
    Interesting phone conversation today about colchicine. For years we've known that colchicine is very effective at relieving a herniated intervertebral disk. In fact, I had a very personal experience with that in my neck in 1993. I had a herniated disk that essentially paralyzed my left arm. It was treated successfully with intravenous colchicine and now I've found that by taking it orally occaisionally I have no residual and have been basically pain free for 17 years.

I've had several other family experiences with this with successful outcomes. A couple of years ago the intravenous colchicine was taken off the market, which is discouraging because of the effectiveness of this method. Some people have chosen to try gradually increasing doses of colchicine and some have gotten quite good relief from the oral colchicine.

Recently a patient came in with a history of herniated disk and typical low back pain radiating to the lower extremities. An MRI confirmed the diagnoses of the herniated disk and her choices were pretty much pain medication or surgery. She elected instead to try the colchicine and within two weeks was able to stop all her other pain medication. The back pain had gone away and she also found that the progressive pain she'd been experiencing in several other parts of her body was eliminated. She seemed to have more energy and a much better mood.

     It has been known that the nature of colchicine is anti-inflammatory. Exactly why it works to relieve the pressure of  a herniated disk is not clearly known. It does work and is quite safe compared to other options available for that type of situation. It is something to keep in mind.

     You may have a little trouble convincing your doctor to let you try colchicine in this type of situation. But if you Google it and get more information about it's safety and history (it is also relatively inexpensive) you may be able to get your doctor to let you give it a try, especially if he thinks pain medication or surgery are the only options.

Vitamin D

     Part of an editorial from the 2008 edition of Life Extension.
"The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. In response to this attack, President Roosevelt declared an emergency and committed every national resource to supporting the war effort.

     Another significant event occurred in 1941 but no government response was generated. The result of this oversight is that at least 12 times more Americans have died than all the US servicemen killed in World War II. This historic discovery has been confirmed by recent human studies. It would thus seem appropriate for today's president to hold a news conference announcing a simple step that every American should take to drastically cut their risk of dying from age-related diseases. 

     When adding up the lives that could be spared, the numbers are staggering. For cancer alone, 275,000 American live could be saved each year if a nation-wide program was implemented.

     When one considers how much money the government spends to protect against real and imaginary events, the cost of implementing this common-sense program would be trivial.

     In 1941, the first scientific study was published showing that greater sunlight exposure resulted in lower cancer mortality (The Relation of Solar Irradiation to Cancer Mortality in North America. "Cancer Research," 1941). People living in northern latitudes are shown to contract more cancers than those in southern latitudes where there is greater year-round sunlight exposure.

     Researchers subsequently identified vitamin D as the cancer protective factor generated from sunlight. Published scientific studies have shown cancer risk reduction of 50% and more, based on higher vitamin D status."

Comment: Most adults should be taking 5,000 IUs a day and then have a vitamin D blood test done to see if that is adequate to get the blood level to 60-80.

1.    Chlorine and Disinfection Byproducts
Drinking water disinfected by chlorine in pregnancy can increase the child's risk of heart problems, cleft palate or major brain defects. On the other hand, disinfection byproducts (DBPs) are formed when the disinfectants used to purify your water, like chlorine, react with natural organic matter like decaying vegetation in water, Dr. Mercola explains. DBPs are more than 10,000 times more toxic than chlorine, making them the worst type of contaminants.
Chlorine has been linked to health problems associated with drinking water but new studies suggest that DBPs, not chlorine, are responsible for almost all of the toxic effects of chlorinated water. The two most common disinfectant byproducts formed when chlorine is used are trihalomethanes and haloacetic acids. Trihalomethanes have been shown to cause cancer in laboratory animals and have also been associated with spontaneous abortion, stillbirths and congenital malformations.

2.    Drugs and Hormonally Active Chemicals
A comprehensive survey of drinking water in the U.S. reveals that your drinking water may also contain a number of pharmaceuticals and hormonally active chemicals, Mercola points out. The drugs that you take, or those that are given to livestock, do not necessarily become inert in your body. Some of the active components that are not absorbed are deposited into sewage treatment centers that are not always testing for, or removing, pharmaceuticals. Also, unused prescription drugs are sometimes flushed down the toilet or deposited into landfills by individuals, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies, where they ultimately end up back in the environment.
Among the drugs and chemicals found in tap water were atenolol, a beta-blocker used to treat cardiovascular disease; atrazine, a herbicide banned in Europe linked to the decline of fish population and in changes in animal behavior; meprobamate, a psychiatric tranquilizer; phenytoin, an anticonvulsant, and sulfamethoxazole, an antibiotic.

3.    Fluoride
Fluoride is one of the toxic chemicals still at large in America. It was actually one of the toxic components evaluated for use in the production of the atomic bomb during World War II. For Dr. Mercola, water fluoridation is absurd and unethical because studies show that this chemical can damage your brain, and your immune, gastrointestinal system and skeletal systems. Fluoride is so dangerous that a family-sized tube of fluoridated toothpaste is toxic enough to kill a 25-lb child.

4.     Heavy Metals
Heavy metals such as arsenic, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury and nickel can seep into your water, are inorganic, have relatively high densities and are toxic even at low concentrations. Heavy metal poisoning can cause blood disorders, and brain, kidney and nerve damage. These heavy metals usually accumulate in your water supply through human activity, such as industrial and consumer waste. In homes built before the late 1980s, copper and lead can leach into passing water from water pipes and soldered joints on the way to your tap.

5.    Rocket Fuel
Perchlorate, a component of rocket fuel which is also used in fireworks and road flares, was found in the water supplies of 36 states. This chemical can inhibit the production of thyroid hormones, which are essential for pre- and postnatal development. The Environmental Protection Agency has also found that perchlorate exposure led to the development of thyroid tumors in rats.

Because of the dangers of tap water contaminants, water filtration systems are no longer considered a luxury; they're health products. For most people a countertop water filter that effectively removes chlorine, fluoride and inorganic and organic contaminants is the best, most practical and cost-effective choice. A reverse osmosis filter helps remove virtually all tap water contaminants but it is costly, inefficient and requires extensive installation.

Anti-angiogenesis therapy

The method of cutting off blood supply to cancer cells. Unlike healthy vessels, tumor vessels are abnormal and poorly constructed and because of that, they're highly vulnerable to treatments that target them, Dr. Li explains.

Obesity is also dependent on angiogenesis because like tumor cells, fat cells grow when capillaries grow.

Dr. Li points out that there are about a dozen anti-angiogenesis cancer drugs that have significantly increased the survival rates of patients. But what is more exciting and promising about angiogenic research is not just making better drugs to fight cancer; it's in preventing cancer from occurring in the first place, Dr. Mercola points out.

There are a large number of fruits, herbs and vegetables that are natural angiogenesis inhibitors. According to Dr. Li, anti-angiogenesis foods include:

The recent disasters in Haiti and Chile, and the disruption caused by the volcano in Iceland, have certainly evoked our sympathies and triggered our generosity genes as demonstrated by the massive outpouring of  aid to these areas.  Hopefully it also awakens in all of us the real possibility  of a similar disaster closer to home,  Unfortunately, there is a psychological barrier to accepting that reality, it is always the other fellow that will die from lung cancer, get the speeding ticket, etc.
            When disaster strikes there will not be time to prepare.  Stores will be empty in a day or two, if we are lucky we will still have water in the taps, electricity could be gone, etc.  Life will change quickly
We all saw the pictures of Haiti.  It will probably happen here, I just do not know when.  My wife and I were in San Rafael, California  when the electricity went out.  You could not get gas, traffic lights quit working causing massive traffic jams, stores were giving away their frozen foods, it was almost total chaos.  Fortunately, it lasted only a few hours, but it was a wake-up call.
In a disaster, after the initial shock wears off, the first priority is water.  Do you have access to water?  Experts suggest that you plan for at least one gallon/day/person.  Your toilet tank and hot water heater will probably get you through the first day, if you happen to be at home.  After that, if there is not electricity or if the water lines are broken, you are on your own. 
 
START STORING WATER TODAY!!!!
- Put water in plastic milk cartons, or empty juice bottles today!
- Get five gallon containers and fill them with water.  Larger containers are very difficult to maneuver.
Keep a gallon of regular (not scented) bleach for water purification.  Tap an eye dropper to the container.
 
DIRECTIONS FOR USING THE BLEACH:
            First let water stand until particles settle.  Pour the clear water into an uncontaminated container and add Regular Chlorox Bleach.  (2 drops /quart).
Mix well and wait 30 minutes.  Water should have a slight bleach odor.  If not repeat the process.  Wait 15 minutes and sniff again.  Keep an eyedropper taped to your emergency bleach bottle.
Chlorox Bleach Sanitizing Solution:
Mix one tablespoon Chlorox Bleach to one gallon of water.  Wash and rinse items first and then soak in this solution for 2 minutes and the let air dry.

Begin your water storage today.

Food

            Store what your family will eat.  Begin by getting a few extra items of your daily fare each time you shop.  This should not put a major strain on your food budget.  Set aside a place in your home for this storage or it will end up being eaten.  Have as much variety as possible.  Get each of the food groups; veggies, fruit, meats and grain.  Forget about the cake mixes, and fancy foods, this is survival.  If you store grain learn to sprout and grind it.  To this end it would be good to have a hand grinder since there may not be electricity.  If may be tough to go from Wonder Bread to whole wheat so think about changing a little at a time now.
            Prepare a backpack for each family member in which you place a three day supply of food, clothing, personal items, toilet paper, matches, flashlight, whistle, etc. in case there is a need for an immediate evacuation.  Remember to check this item out every few months as children quickly outgrow clothing.  Remember to have supplies for menstrual cycles.
Food and water will be more valuable than gold and silver in an emergency.

Medicine –

 Most medicines will last much longer than their stated expiration date.  The expiration date means that the “full” potency is no longer present;  it will still work.  I would encourage you to ask your doctor for at least a three month refill.  This may mean out of pocket costs to you since many prescription plans will only cover a 30 day supply.  It will be worth it!
            Another thing to consider would be , in an emergency when access to medicine is gone, to take smaller doses of the medicine you are currently taking.  If, for example, your usual dose is 100mg, you may be able to do well on 50mg, or 100mg every other day.  This is an unknown but would probably be better for you than to be taking 100mg and then nothing.
            Learn about natural substitutes for medicine.  There are many medicines that have no natural substitutes, but many do.  For example:
             Pepto-Bismol, and Tumeric, clove oil, hydrogen peroxide, cider vinegar, baking soda, oil of oregano, etc., e., all have medicinal uses and are readily available NOW.  Go to www.lewrockwell.com and google “How to prepare for Obamacare: Create your own natural medicine,” for an extensive list of other remedies.
            &nb sp;           Get a copy of a homeopathic book on first aid, the Biochemic Handbook, or The Family Guide to Homeopathy..  Both of these, and many others, will give you a good foundation of information to begin using now and to help with many problems
            &nb sp;           Have some baking soda, cider vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and plain unscented bleach available and learn of their many uses.
 
Money -
            In a real crisis the paper and metal coins we are now using as “money” will be worthless.   Their value is based on faith in the integrity and stability of the American economy, which will be gone.  It will have no value.  Those of you that lived during WWII will remember when the German mark inflated to the point that it took a wheelbarrow of “money” to buy a loaf of bread, if bread could be found.  We will probably be forced to resort to a barter system.  What has intrinsic value?  Food and water will be the most important commodities.  Cigarettes and chocolate will always be high on the list. (It is hard for me to imagine storing cigarettes, chocolate is something else)  If you have done all of the above and can afford it, store small denomination pre-1964 silver coins.  Silver is now worth about $18/oz, or it costs $18 for a silver dollar and it is expected to go to $50/oz.  Remember that this does not mean silver is more valuable, it means that the dollar is worth less!!!  Prices do not go up, the value of the dollar is going down.
Gardens
            Plant food that your family likes.  Plant food that does not require high maintenance.  Plant food that does well in cooler weather and winters well.  Learn about “Square-foot gardening.”  Use “Heritage” or non-hybrid seeds.  These are seeds that can be harvested and planted again next season to get the same crop.  Google heritage seeds and you will find a number of companies that sell this type of seed.  Begin small and learn as you go.
            I occurred to me after observing the consequences of the ash cloud from the volcano in Iceland, that it would not take very many similar eruptions to produce a serious cooling effect of planet earth.  For that reason I plan to plant lots of potatoes (also due to my Irish ancestry), kale, and Brussels  sprouts and to learn about other cooler weather vegetables.
Fuel –
            I feel that gasoline is too dangerous to store, kerosene maybe, propane in a tank I feel is a good idea.  I think it a good idea to keep the tanks in your car at least half full all the time.  I have a camp stove that would work well for a while, which may be all that is necessary.  Eventually we will probably all have to rely on wood.  A wood stove or fireplace would be wonderful if available.  How much wood would you burn during the winter?  Most of us cannot store enough to provide it as a primary source of heat, but we could heat one or two rooms which would be great in January.  In reading the book “John Adams”  I learned that during the winter months in Boston in 1775  they all wore overcoats in the house.
            Do you have a supply of matches?  I recently came across of great simple flint-like fire starter.  It produces a very hot spark from a piece of magnesium.  Available in the camping section of most stores.
Are you storing old newspaper to use to start fires?  Begin collecting the lint from your dryer screen, it is a great fire starter with the magnesium spark.
Personal –
            Do you have a months worth of toilet paper?  Soap?  Tampons?  Toothpaste and floss?
If a flu pandemic does develop and we are confined to our homes by a quarantine  are there books, games, etc to keep the troops entertained?  There could very likely be no TV or perhaps even electricity.

Bicarbonate of sodium…Baking Soda, Arm & Hammer most often.
Fascinating bits of information seem to be coming together regarding the potential of this inexpensive, readily available substance to solve many problems.
Recently a patient told me of her brother who had apparently been cured of metastatic  (cancer that has spread from it origin to other places in the body) prostate cancer by making his body more alkaline  (High pH) with baking soda..  I have not seen to laboratory data or x-rays personally, but have talked with him and read his material.
This information came to me shortly after reading about the work of Dr. Sinonici of Italy.  He treats cancer by placing catheter into an artery leading to an organ with cancer and infusing sodium bicarbonate. 
I then came across an article by the late medical researcher Wayne Martin writing about the alkalizing effect of low blood sugar.  A fairly recent method of treating cancer is called  ‘Insulin Potentiated Therapy.”  This is a method of lowering a patient's blood sugar to coma levels with insulin and then administering very small doses of chemotherapy, quite effectively.  And the thought occurred to me that maybe it isn't the chemo working in that situation but the rise in pH as the result of low blood sugar.
Cyanide will lower pH and maybe that is why a cyanide containing substance, laetrile, an alternative cancer therapy, can help some people.
Recently Dr. Mercola's newsletter published a revival of an old time flu remedy using baking soda repeatedly for three days.  The theory being that raising the body pH

There are volumes written about the miracles of apple cider vinegar as a remedy for most aliments.  Cider vinegar, acetic acid, being a weak acid raised the body pH.

Biochemistry

The acetyl group, derived from acetic acid, is fundamental to the biochemistry of virtually all forms of life. When bound to coenzyme A it is central to the metabolism of carbohydrates and fats. However, the concentration of free acetic acid in cells is kept at a low level to avoid disrupting the control of the pH of the cell contents. Unlike longer-chain carboxylic acids (the fatty acids), acetic acid does not occur in natural triglycerides. However, the artificial triglyceride triacetin (glycerin triacetate) is a common food additive, and is found in cosmetics and topical medicines.
Acetic acid is produced and excreted by acetic acid bacteria, notably the Acetobacter genus and Clostridium acetobutylicum. These bacteria are found universally in foodstuffs, water, and soil, and acetic acid is produced naturally as fruits and other foods spoil. Acetic acid is also a component of the vaginal lubrication of humans and other primates, where it appears to serve as a mild antibacterial agent.[9

Another website; is that what is needed at this time?  I wish to make this a site that is user friendly, contains information that makes you safer and more independent, provides access to therapies that you implement at midnight alone at home.  I think there is much important information in the local community that I hope to make available through your participation on this site.  I know that there is a spiritual side to good health.  It has been “documented “ that prayer improves healing so perhaps the site can have a list of those who would like our prayers   There are many local activities that promote better health which can be posted.
I firmly believe that your health is too important to leave only in the hands of your  doctor, and if you do not take care of your body it is hard to find another place to live.
 
The more organized part of the site will be the continuation of the newsletter I have been writing for the past 25 years.  I welcome ideas to include in this letter.  There may be space and time to answer a few questions.
 
As the government takes a greater role in providing and deciding health care it is imperative that we do all that we can to prevent illness.  I, and many of you,  have reached an age  that has outgrown much of the currently available “disease care” services
With the inevitable rationing that comes with socialized medicine this will become more obvious.  So the time to do these things is now.
 
The site will evolve as we monitor the response, consider your input and watch the social-economic changes taking place.  All change is not progress or good but no change is a sign of death.

Here's a good article on the toxic effects of flea and tick products like Advantage and Frontline and other pyrethroids and the documented harm they have done to over 44,000 dogs and cats last year alone. In light of this you might choose to use instead, herbal sprays of citronella, or pennyroyal, cedar shavings in their bed, diatomaceous earth, and my favorite, neem oil. Also remember, sickly animals are more likely to be the banquet of choice, so cod liver oil, B complex, liver, and brewers yeast are helpful.

The article cites a study in which women being treated for breast cancer were 50 percent less likely to die of the disease if they walked at an average pace for three to five hours a week.

Think about it. If just three to five hours of walking per week can so drastically improve your chances of surviving a hormone-responsive breast cancer tumor, imagine what a few more hours a week of exercise could do for you.

If you're male, be aware that athletes have lower levels of circulating testosterone than non-athletes, and similar to the association between estrogen levels and breast cancer in women, testosterone is known to influence the development of prostate cancer in men.

Vitamin D has major health benefits. The best source of vitamin D is from the sun, but you also see many foods fortified with Vitamin D. Unfortunately, milk and other foods fortified with vitamin D often contain a synthetic form called ergocalciferol, or vitamin D2.

This synthetic form isn't as potent and doesn't last as long in your body. In fact, synthetic vitamin D becomes toxic in your body at far lower levels. Too much synthetic vitamin D2 may be linked to health problems. A number of studies link synthetic vitamin D2 to irritation of the lining of blood vessels.

In fortified milk, you may not know even how much you are getting. There are three basic facts you should remember when you are exercising your right to make an informed, voluntary vaccination choice for yourself or your child in America:

  1. Informed Consent is a Human Right: The right to voluntary, informed consent to a medical intervention, including use of a pharmaceutical product such as a vaccine that can injure or kill you or your child, is a human right.

While the State may have the legal authority to mandate use of vaccines, nobody has the moral authority to FORCE you to get vaccinated or vaccinate your child without your voluntary, informed consent

  1. Vaccine Laws Have Exemptions: In 1905, the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed the legal authority of state governments to pass laws requiring citizens residing in the state to use certain vaccines.

Today, all 50 states have enacted vaccine laws that require proof of vaccination for children to attend daycare, elementary, junior and high school and college.

Vaccine requirements vary from state to state and all 50 states allow a medical exemption to vaccination; 48 states allow a religious exemption to vaccination; and 18 states allow a personal, philosophical or conscientious belief exemption to vaccination.

  1. Freedom is Not Free, Become a Vaccine Choice Advocate: Many state governments now require nearly three dozen doses of more than a dozen vaccines to attend school. Medical and religious exemptions are becoming harder to get and exemptions for reasons of conscience are under attack by proponents of forced vaccination.

The National Vaccine Information Center is working with citizens in states to expand or protect legal exemptions to vaccination.

Six Principles for Protecting Vaccine Choices

First Principle: It's Your CHOICE

When exercising your right to voluntary, informed consent to vaccination for yourself or your child, remember that state vaccine laws contain:

  1. Legal requirements that school and health officials are responsible for enforcing

  2. Legal exemptions that you have the legal right to choose to exercise. (Public schools must allow vaccine exemptions outlined in state vaccine laws, but private religious or other non-state operated schools may reject vaccine exemptions.)

Most state vaccine laws do not allow unvaccinated students with vaccine exemptions to attend school during confirmed outbreaks of certain infectious diseases for defined periods of time.

Remember: Nobody has the moral authority to force you or your child to be injected with a vaccine without your voluntary, informed consent and you have the legal right to exercise exemptions to vaccination according to the laws in your state.

Second Principle: You Have the Right to KNOW

You have the legal right to know the risks and complications of vaccines BEFORE you make the choice of whether or not to allow your child to be vaccinated.

The National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act, passed by Congress and signed into law by President Reagan in 1986, directed all doctors and other vaccine providers to give parents written information about vaccines BEFORE children are vaccinated.

Remember: All vaccines and other pharmaceutical products carry a risk of injury or death and those risks can be greater for some than others.

Never agree to use a vaccine, drug or other product without fully informing yourself about ALL risks.

The product information insert, which drug companies by law must include with every vial of vaccine provided to public health clinics and private doctors' offices, includes a description of the vaccine's reported reactions and precautions.

You can ask for a copy of that vaccine information insert from your doctor or state health department.

Third Principle: Be INFORMED and Prepared

Knowledge is power. Arm yourself with accurate information about vaccination and health. Do your own research and talk to one or more trusted health care professionals before you make any health care decision.

Become an educated consumer and you will be empowered to defend your right to freely make voluntary choices about health, including vaccination, for yourself and your children.

Remember: If you arm yourself with accurate information about vaccines and health, you will be prepared to intelligently and rationally discuss your vaccine choices with your family, friends, colleagues, doctors, elected officials and others in your community.

Fourth Principle: Take RESPONSIBILITY for Your Words and Actions

When you are standing up for your right to know, and freedom to choose, whether or not to vaccinate yourself or your child, how you go about exercising your rights will determine whether or not you will succeed.

In your contact with doctors, school or government health officials, remain calm but politely firm when explaining and defending the vaccine choice you have made.

If you are treated with disrespect or are harassed in any way by a doctor or government official, do not engage in an unproductive argument. You may want to contact an attorney, your elected state representatives or local media if you or your child are threatened.

Remember: Treat others as you want to be treated, even if you are being attacked or harassed for the vaccine choice you have made.

Protect yourself and your family by seeking legal or other expert counsel, if necessary.

Serve as an example for others in your community whenever you defend your right to exercise voluntary, informed consent to vaccination, including the right to decline to use one or more vaccines for yourself or your child.

Fifth Principle: Keep WRITTEN Records

Be sure to ask your doctor for copies of your medical records or your child's medical records, including recorded information about vaccinations and illnesses. Under the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, doctors and other vaccine providers are required by federal law to:

  • Write down any serious health problems that occur after vaccination in a child's permanent medical record

  • Keep a permanent record of all vaccines given, including the manufacturer's name and lot number

  • Report serious health problems, hospitalizations injuries and deaths that occur after vaccination to the federal Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS). (If your doctor won't report, you have the right to make a vaccine reaction report to VAERS).

Remember: It is wise to keep written records of your interactions with doctors, school and health officials that involve vaccine choices you make, as well as copies of any vaccine exemptions you file with the state. You may have to hire an attorney to defend your informed consent rights when it comes to vaccination and it is important to have written records.

Sixth Principle: Be COURAGEOUS

It is not easy to stand up for the right to make informed, voluntary choices about vaccination when public health officials, the pharmaceutical industry and many medical doctors are putting pressure on all Americans, especially parents, to use every government recommended vaccine.

The fact that the numbers of doses of government mandated vaccines have tripled in the past quarter century, while the numbers of chronically ill and disabled children have also tripled, offers an opportunity to have a long overdue public conversation about the effects of vaccination on individual and public health.

Remember: Freedom of thought and exercise of free speech is protected under the U.S. Constitution.

You have the right to talk privately and publicly about any concerns you have about vaccine necessity, safety and effectiveness, and to work with your elected officials to modify the vaccine laws in your state.

Become an engaged, courageous citizen activist and protect your right to make vaccine choices.

Vaccination and U.S. Law: A Brief Summary

  • Medical Exemptions: All 50 states allow medical exemption to vaccination.

Medical exemptions to vaccination must be written by a medical doctor (M.D.) or doctor of osteopathy (D.O.) and are usually reviewed annually by school or state health officials.

Since 1986, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) have eliminated most officially recognized medical reasons for withholding vaccination (contraindications) so that almost no medical condition qualifies for a medical exemption to vaccination.

In most states, school or state public health officials can question or even deny a medical exemption to vaccination written by a doctor if it does not strictly conform to CDC and AAP contraindication guidelines.

The National Vaccine Information Center is working with citizens who want to change vaccine laws to prevent state school or health officials from questioning or denying a medical exemption to vaccination written by a doctor.

  • Religious Exemptions: All but two states (West Virginia and Mississippi) allow religious exemption to vaccination.

These exemptions are worded differently in different states and require different forms of written documentation that must be submitted to state governments supporting a sincerely held religious belief opposing vaccination.

Some states require a notarized affidavit or letter from a spiritual advisor attesting to the sincerity of a person's religious beliefs about vaccination. The religious exemption is under attack and, in some states like New York, parents are being grilled about the sincerity of their religious beliefs by state officials and denied religious exemptions to vaccination so their partially or completely unvaccinated children cannot attend public schools.

The National Vaccine Information Center is working with citizens, who want to protect their rights to religious exemptions, to add or re-write the religious exemption in state vaccine laws.

  • Conscientious Belief Exemptions: 18 states allow conscientious, personal or philosophical belief exemption to vaccination. These states come the closest to protecting a citizen's right to exercise voluntary, informed consent to vaccination in America. They are:

Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin

This exemption, like the religious exemption, is under attack by forced vaccination proponents who want to eliminate non-medical exemptions to vaccination in America.

The National Vaccine Information Center is working with citizens who want to protect or add conscientious belief exemption in state vaccine laws.

  • Vaccine Exemptions for Military Personnel: All branches of the U.S. Armed Services provide medical and religious exemptions to vaccination, but those exemptions must be first declared before enlistment in the military.

If a military recruit does not clearly state a medical or religious objection to vaccination BEFORE joining the military, he or she gives up the right to object to vaccination during active military service. Failure to obey an order to vaccinate while on active military duty can result in demotion, imprisonment and involuntary discharge from the military, including dishonorable discharge.

After enlistment, legal assistance is often required to successfully object to vaccination without being subjected to sanctions.

Family dependents of active military personnel often must obtain approval from military officials to exempt children from vaccination for medical reasons or religious objections, especially if the children are attending military-operated daycare or schools or are deployed to foreign countries or re-entering the U.S. after living in a foreign country.

  • Vaccine Exemptions for International Travel: Different countries have different laws requiring vaccines to enter or leave the country.

Most developed countries, including those in Europe, currently do not require visitors to show proof of vaccination. However, some countries in Africa, Asia and elsewhere may require certain vaccines to enter or exit. Click here to check the CDC website on travel vaccine requirements.

  • Other Vaccine Exemption Issues: Vaccine choices also can affect adoption, immigration, child custody arrangements during divorce proceedings, eligibility for health insurance and government entitlement programs, and medical care.

Children adopted from foreign countries as well as in the U.S. may be required by US law and adoption agencies to receive certain government mandated vaccines.

Immigration laws also contain vaccine requirement provisions.

In cases of divorce, one parent may attempt to gain full custody of a minor child by using the vaccine choice issue as leverage.

Some families have been dropped from medical insurance plans or barred from eligibility for government funded medical care and food supplement programs if children are not given all government recommended vaccines.

Increasingly, pediatricians are refusing to treat children who are not fully vaccinated and, in some instances, medical personnel in hospital emergency rooms and physicians' offices have reported parents to state child social services agencies for child medical neglect for refusing to vaccinate their children. In these circumstances, you may need to consult to protect informed consent rights.

Legal Options

The National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986 was passed by Congress to protect vaccine manufacturers and vaccine providers from liability for vaccine injuries and deaths in civil court.

If a child is injured by a government recommended or mandated vaccine, the child must sue the Secretary of Health for damages under the Act in the U.S. Court of Claims in Washington, D.C.

If the vaccine injured child is turned down for federal compensation or offered too little to provide for the child's lifetime care, a lawsuit may be filed in civil court against a vaccine manufacturer or negligent doctor with certain restrictions.

By 2009, about $2 billion had been awarded to vaccine victims for brain inflammation and immune system damage leading to permanent injury or death, even though two out of three children are turned away for federal compensation.

The Bottom Line

  • When you or your child is injured by a vaccine, the risks are 100 percent, and you will be left to deal with the consequences. Those who make and give vaccines are protected from liability in civil court, and federal vaccine injury compensation is very difficult to get.

  • There is no guarantee that a vaccine will, in fact, protect against an infectious disease or that exposure to an infectious disease will cause a complication, injury or death. Good health is about so much more than vaccination and preventing experience with infectious disease.

  • Vaccines are pharmaceutical products that carry a risk of injury or death that is greater for some than others. The right to informed consent to medical risk-taking is a human right. Empowering ourselves with information and taking responsible action to protect the right to exercise voluntary, informed consent to vaccination in America is one of the most important actions we can take as citizens to protect our freedom.

  • Don't let anyone force you or your child to take a vaccine without your voluntary, informed consent.

  • If a doctor denies you or your child medical care because you want to make vaccine choices, find another doctor.

  • If a doctor threatens you, or if a government official denies a medical or religious exemption that you have legally filed, find an attorney to help you.

  • If you don't like the vaccine laws in your state, contact your elected officials and work to change them.

Together, we can educate the public and reform vaccine laws in America to protect the right to make informed, voluntary vaccination decisions for ourselves and our children.

An increasingly alarmed army of international scientists have reached a controversial conclusion:

The "electrosmog" that first began developing with the rollout of the electrical grid a century ago and now envelops every inhabitant of Earth is responsible for many of the diseases that impair or kill them.

During the past 100 years, we have methodically filled in the electromagnetic spectrum far beyond what occurs in nature.

Recently, several developments have highlighted the growing hazards of EMF pollution and the crucial need to address them.

In 2007, the Bioinitiative Working Group released a 650-page report citing more than 2,000 studies (many very recent) that detail the toxic effects of EMFs from all sources. The main bulk of an animal's body consists of water, protein, fat and bones. Fat and bone are metabolically more quiscent than the protein-water systems. During stress or starvation, or even hibernation, animals lose lean mass faster than fat.

The amino acids that constitute protein have many hormone-like functions in their free state. When our glucose (glycogen) stores have been depleted, we convert our own tissue into free amino acids, some of which are used to produce new glucose. The amino acids cysteine and tryptophan, released in large quantities during stress, have antimetabolic (thyroid-suppressing) and, eventually, toxic effects. Hypothyroidism itself increases the catabolic turnover of protein, even though general metabolism is slowed.

Other amino acids act as nerve-modifiers ("transmitters"), causing, for example, excitation or inhibition.

Some of these amino acids, such as glycine, hace a very broad range of cell-protective actions.

Their physical properties, rather than their uyse for production of energy or other metabolic function, are responsible for their important cytoprotective actions.

Gelatin (the cooked form of collagen) makes up about 50% of the protein in an animal, but a much smaller percentage in the more active tissues, such as brain, muscle, and liver. 35% of the amino acids, in gelatin are glycine, 11% alanine, and 21% proline and hydroxyproline.

In the industrialized societies, the consumption of gelatin has decreased, relative to the foods that contain an inappropriately high proportion of the antimetabolic amino acids, especially tryptophan and cysteine.

Irritations from alcohol, coffee and chemical additives as well as yeast/candida overgrowth affect the sensitive digestive membranes, causing poor absorption and lead to "leaky gut," a condition that allows incompletely digested food molecules to slip through the intestinal wall, which then causes immune reactions.

6. We often eat too much at once. Overeating overwhelms the digestive system and we may also crave our reactive foods.

7. We have a lot of stress. The average American worker takes only 11 minutes for lunch or may eat unconsciously on the job. When you're under stress, hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol, divert blood away from digestion.

8. We don't chew our food well enough. Foods that remain in large pieces can't be broken down completely, even when enough digestive juices are available.

9. We drink too much liquid at meals. Drinking a lot of liquid with food dilutes our digestive juices and stomach acid, thus preventing complete digestion.

10. And finally, we all have some of these habits at the same time, combining risks for developing food reactions and false fat. Most people combine several risk factors so they quickly reach their reactive threshold and trigger an immune response.
