License Happenings;
Mr. Wheatley filed a Petitioner's Opening Brief in the Court of Appeals this past
week.  My understanding is that now the Medical Board will respond and then in a
month or two there will be a hearing before a panel of three judges.  Then we wait for
their decision.  We appreciate your prayers and good thoughts.

Class this month-February 28th;

The basics of wholesome nutrition is the topic this month.  In my opinion
malnutrition is the primary cause of aging, and disease.  By, malnutrition I do not mean
calorie starvation, I mean the starvation for vitamins and minerals which leads to all
chronic disease, caused by eating processed foods.

Jonathan Wright, M.D. should probably be rightfully considered "the Guru"
of the movement in nutrition-based medicine.  In his February newsletter he points
out (and documents this as he always does) that the use of antibiotics can cause
gluten sensitivity and autoimmune disease.  My added comment would be that the
usual cause of infection, leading to the use of antibiotics is vitamin/mineral
deficiencies.
What does all of this have to do with a class on the basics of nutrition?
I am convinced that if you understand basic nutritional principles you greatly improve
your chances, and the chances of your children, of avoiding or delaying the onset of
disease.
So come and learn the basics, and why you do not need to go on the
Mediterranean diet, or Atkins, or Zone,or etc. to be healthy.

Orange Juice ;
Did you see the item which noted that a large shipment of orange
juice from somewhere in South America was refused entry into the USA due to the
presence of pesticides that are banned in America?
Also note that during the winter months most fresh produce in our markets
comes from the southern hemisphere, where they are "in season."  I do not think
any of us can predict what has been used to "protect" the produce, retard maturation
during shipping, inhibit sprouting, generate the color we demand, etc.  For the most
part we do not know what is on what we eat.
Mercola's newsletter has recently reported that a major source of fluoride
comes from sprays applied to vegetables.
The regulation of chemicals used on produce, in my opinion, is poor in
America.  It is worse in many other countries.
These chemicals disrupt hormone functions, and cause molecular changes
that can lead to autoimmune disease.
The "Principle" involved here is "Eat local organic food that is in season in Oregon.  When that isn't possible do the best you can locally, in season.  Frozen orange juice is not good for you.  You do not need to eat food from South American to be healthy!!!
